Only a weekend on Hilton Head Island.
Updated: May 2, 2021
The bike rides through tree covered trails that offer canopies of shade are the core memories I have as a teenager of this place. Sea Pines is a community like no other, nestled on an island called Hilton Head. Hilton Head is an amazing destination for families who want a week long beach vacation that provides ultimate relaxation. But what about a fun short weekend getaway? Absolutely. Let’s go!

First of all, the South Beach Marina Inn offers condo-style lodging above Sea Pines shopping, next to tennis courts, bike trails and the world famous Salty Dog Cafe. This location is the most perfect place to be for a weekend. Rent paddle boards and kayaks just outside your room and explore the river that the South Beach Marina is located on. Enjoy some downtime in your cozy room before heading downstairs to the outdoor seating to enjoy dinner and live music. Head to the bar to mingle with locals and enjoy a cocktail or two. Sit by the brick fire pit and watch the moon move across the sky. As of right now, the party ends at 10pm each night and the area becomes eerily quiet, which I love! Garrett and I walked out on our deck, that is shared with the other condos, and enjoyed the glow of the boat lights anchored at the marina.

The dinner options are endless on Hilton Head island but be aware that sea pines takes up a huge part of the island so any eateries outside of the community will be a 15 to 20 minute drive. Also note that if you plan on using an Uber, plan ahead. Ubers can enter and leave sea pines without paying fees but they are all outside of sea pines so getting one quickly is not likely. We waited 30 minutes for ours.

It has to be noted that we ventured to Bad Biscuit for brunch. With mimosas and incredible biscuits, you can be sure to leave full and happy. I was also pleasantly surprised to see they had a Keto dish and it was delicious! Get a side of bacon gravy and thank me later.

Visit the beach!
If going to the beach is on your agenda (as it should be) you can take a short trek from your condo within sea pines. But another great option is driving and parking at Coligny Beach Park. Once at the main parking lot at Coligny, and after you set up your spot on the shore, you can walk left (if looking at the ocean) on the beach and you will come up on Pool Bar Jim’s boardwalk and head up to this amazing bar for food and drinks with ocean views. Garrett was quoted saying that the wings were “the best he had ever tasted!” The bartenders are friendly and quick so you’ll have a great time! A note: The pool is for guests of Seacrest Oceanfront Resort only.

I hope you are able to enjoy this as a weekend getaway. If you are looking for a longer vacation with someone or with the entire family, visit Airbnb and VRBO for larger group accommodations. Cheers!
